This seminar will focus on a broad range of recent of geotechnical engineering challenges and solutions when designing and constructing in the NYC metropolitan area and other urban environments including but not limited to: 1) Deep foundations, ground improvement, and/or support of excavation solutions and challenges; 2) Managing risks when working near adjacent sensitive structures; 3) In-situ testing, instrumentation and monitoring; 4) Engineering for extreme events (flood protection, seismic design, resiliency, etc.); and 5) Creative/innovative design and/or construction solutions focusing .
