Please join Idinleke Atlanta, Inc for a lecture and discussion taking a deeper look at the role of Egbe Orun in Yoruba practice and worship. This event is held in connection with the 12th Annual Orisa and Egbe Festival to be held from May 16th - May 20th.
Egbe Orun, or heavenly mates is described as our comrades in heaven who must be appeased in order to have longevity, good health, prosperity, and victory in life. Egbe Orun is a very important aspect of Yoruba cosmology that is often overlooked or not discussed in the United States and throughout the Diaspora.
The evening will commence with a lecture on the importance of Egbe Orun for Orisa worshipers given by the distinguished, Oloye (Chief) Oyelola Elebuibon, Head Iyalorisa of Ogbeyonu Temple in Osogbo, Osun State Nigeria. Following the lecture, we will have a panel discussion facilitated by the Olori and Iyalode of Idinleke Atlanta, Iya Fafunmilayo Omisegun, that will look at the real experiences of Iyalorisa and Egbe Priests and worshipers in the Diaspora. Our distinguished panelists are:
-Oloye Osundamisi Egbedunmola, Erelu of Osun Osogbo and Olori of Odunjo Temple in Atlanta.
-Iyanifa Osuntoki Egbeyemi Odunade, Olori of Egbe Osun Atlanta and Olori of Oselogbe Ifa Temple in Atlanta.
-Iyalorisa Oyin Elebuibon, also of Ogbeyonu Temple in Osogbo, Osun State, who currently resides in the Atlanta area.
This will be an interactive discussion and learning environment.
Doors Open at 6:30 PM
Program begins PROMPTLY at 7 PM.
