Come along on a quest to discover the origin story of our favorite fruit! Deep in the forests of the Ural Mountains that separate Kazakhstan and China lie the Mother Orchards of the apple tree; the very trees from which all the world's apples originate. Accompanying us on this journey are a who's who of apple and cider experts from all over the world! Andrew Lea has studied the science and chemistry for over 40 years. His book Craft Cidermaking is required reading for anyone making cider. Claude Jolicoeur has written two of the most significant contributions to cider education. His most recent book, Cider Planet, was largely inspired by this trip. The New Cidermaker's Handbook is an incredible resource that sits on the shelves of nearly every reputable cidery in the world. Peter Mitchell has been teaching cidermaking all over the world for decades, including two owners of Ploughman Cider. And Ryan Burk, formerly of Angry Orchard, has been awarded top prizes in nearly every cidermaking competition in the world. The run time is 3 hours, so we'll take an intermission in the middle. Guests will get one free 9oz cider on us. Food and drink are available during the screening and, as a special bonus to our cider-loving guests, books written by Claude Jolicoeur and Andrew Lea will be 30% off during this event. We're going to learn a lot and have a lot of fun doing it!
