Join us for a unique opportunity to hear from John Weaver, a nationally known expert on coastal defenses and the author of the highly acclaimed book, “A Legacy in Brick and Stone: Coastal Defense Forts of the American Third System 1816-1867.” He is a master of interpretating 19th C. forts and is a technical expert in their restoration. Well known for his engaging presentations, everyone will enjoy this special program. This program will begin with a 40 minute presentation at the Visitor & Education Center followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of casemates in the fort not normally open to the public, such as the Main Gate stockade and the powder magazine at the North Gate.
