Description

Please use one ticket per childThis program allows children to read to an animal at the shelter. The benefits are five-fold; it gives the reader an opportunity to practice reading skills to a four-legged friend that will not judge them, it teaches empathy and compassion, teaches children that volunteering can be fun, and it helps to socialize the animals as well. This event is FREE for all ages! We have a library of books children can choose from or they may bring their own. Children will mainly read to cats. If dogs are available to read to, children will get an option. The mission of Literacy for Companionship is to educate and empower children with the skills and confidence necessary to be good readers while helping them understand the importance of showing animals compassion and empathy.
