Please join the NAHSE DFW Chapter for an insightful conversation to discuss Pediatric Mental Health and Why it’s Important. May is Mental Health Awareness Month which has been observed in the U.S since 1949. NAHSE DFW Chapter is excited to join the national movement to raise awareness about Mental Health. Panelist: Kia Carter, M.D., Medical Director of Psychiatry, Cook Children’s Medical Center. Dr. Carter attended Xavier University of Louisiana for her undergraduate degree and then attended University of Louisville School of Medicine for medical school. Dr. Carter pursued her residency in General Psychiatry at University of Louisville and then attended Northwestern McGaw/Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago for her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. Dr. Carter currently practices at Cooks Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth and is an Assistant Professor at TCU Burnett School of Medicine. Panelist: Sabrina Browne, M.D., Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Browne is an Assistant Professor in the department of Psychiatry at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She recieved her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Boston University and her medical degree from McGovern medical School at UTHealth in Houston. She completed both her residency in General Psychiatry and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychodynamic psychotherapy from the Dallas Psychoanalytic Center. Panelist: Kierra Lloyd, LCSW Board Approved Supervisor, Clinical Therapist, Conscious Freedom. Kierra Lloyd is the owner and founder of Conscious Freedom, which is a mental health group practice located in Mansfield, Texas. Kierra received her social work degrees from Abilene Christian University and The University of Texas at Arlington with a focus in children and families. Kierra is a strong advocate for children’s welfare and pursued additional credentials and state licensures to spread her knowledge. In the state of Texas, Kierra is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor. In the states of Louisiana and California Kierra is a licensed clinical social worker. Kierra is extensively trained in childhood trauma and offers services such as individual therapy, couples counseling, play therapy, co-parenting groups, and child parent relationship training. In addition to these services Kierra is also obtaining her doctorate in Psychology and nearing the end of her certification in Animal Assisted Play Therapy. Panelist: Regina Walker, MS, LPC, Director of Child and Adolescent Services, Metrocare Services. Regina Walker currently serves as the Director of Child and Adolescent Services at Metrocare, providing oversight of the two largest child and adolescent clinics and specialty programs serving nearly 10,000 children and teens annually. She is a passionate scholar and LPC in the field of mental health. During her career, Mrs. Walker has worked with both children and adults as a Service Coordinator, Qualified Mental Health Professional, and a therapist. She has utilized evidence-based treatments for adolescent clients with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and adjustment problems, such as anxiety, stress, depression, and relationship difficulties. Mrs. Walker earned her undergraduate degree from Prairie View A&M University and then obtained a Master of Science degree from Capella University.
