The "Bourbon 201 Tasting" is one of the most basic and second class that we teach at Whiskey University. (NOTE: classes do not need to be taken in order) In Bourbon 201 you will learn about the eight largest bourbon distilleries (out of eleven) and what makes them unique and different from each other. You will also learn about the different levels/types of bourbon that each distillery makes. You will then taste the "Flagship Brand" and some of the most popular "Super Premium Brand" that are offered by a few of the top distilleries. The distilleries and brands that you will experience include; Beam Distillery-Jim Beam White and Knob Creek Small Batch; Heaven Hill Distillery-Evan Williams Black Label and Elijah Craig Small Batch; Buffalo Trace Distillery-Buffalo Trace; Brown-Forman Distillery-Old Forester and Woodford Reserve; Wild Turkey Distillery-Wild Turkey 101; Maker's Mark Distillery-Maker Mark; Wild Turkey Distillery-Wild Turkey 101; Four Roses Distillery-Four Roses Small Batch.There are ten basic classes that make up the General University Requirements (G.U.R.’s). They are Whiskey 101; Bourbon 201; Tennessee Whiskey 202; “The Big 3”; The Bourbon Capital Region; The Bluegrass Region; and The Whiskey Row Region. In order to qualify for the first level of recognition the student must take Bourbon 201 and any other 4 Tasting Classes. After completing three you earn a ”Certificate of Completion” in Basic Whiskey Studies and title ”Apprentice Bourbon Taster.”***Must be Ages 21 and upHosted by Danny Snyder, an Executive Bourbon Steward from the Stave and Thief Society and a Whiskey University Instructor with a Master of Arts from Whiskey University. Danny is also the Whiskey Founders Committee Chair for Whiskey University where he leads a team of 21 fellow Whiskey University Instructors to research and write articles on the founders of brands and distilleries. He also is a member of multiple industry programs such as being a Tennessee Squire, Maker’s Mark ambassador, 5 keys club member with Blade and Bow, a member of the King’s Circle with the George Remus brand, amongst many others.We do have a bar with alcoholic Beverages (Beer, Wine, Seltzers, Canned Cocktails, Liquor) and non alcoholic (Coke products and Water) drinks for sell but do not serve food. There are some packaged snacks for purchase. No outside Alcohol is allowed in the venue. Yellow & Co. has partnered with The Chophouse Restaurant in Mahomet! For anyone that buys a ticket for one of our events, Chophouse on Main will be giving 20% off any food purchase the week leading up to the event and the week after the event! Just show them your ticket to the show on your phone! MASK POLICY - Masks will not be required.
