Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB) Team Open House: Learn about the current status of CRB and the steps you can take to protect palms in your area. Grafting demonstration: The Grafting Hui will be doing grafting demonstrations . Learn how to become an expert grafter and how to care for grafted trees!Xeriscape Hui Open House: Master Gardeners will provide tours and answer questions about growing water saving plants for landscaping. Plant a water-wise plant for yourself!C&C Storm Water Quality Division: Hands-on demonstration stations to learn how you can level up your healthy yard care practices to protect the quality of Hawaiian waters. Learn about the City’s newest program featuring easy guidance on composting yard waste, planting bare spots with natives, testing soils, re-landscaping to contain the rain, and selecting, using, and storing fertilizers. Take home guidance documents, a soil test kit, and a native plant (while supplies last) with a chance to enter to win a yard care kit.Kāhuli (native tree snail) information: Governor Josh Green has declared 2023 the Year of the Kāhuli! Learn how to tell the difference between our beneficial native snails and invasive snails and how you can help to protect our native snails.4-H LIFE Club Keiki Open Market: Check out what the 4-H kids have been growing in the gardens and have a chance to purchase their produce and flowers!4-H Giant Fruit & Vegetable Contest Information: Kids K-12 can participate in this year's Giant Fruit & Vegetable Contest as individuals or groups! Stop by the information table to learn more about how to register! (4-H membership not required).Workshop tickets required for the following activities (workshop tickets include general admission to free activities): Regenerative Gardening Workshop | 9:00 - 9:45 am (free): Please join us at this workshop to learn how to implement regenerative agriculture principles in your home garden and improve soil health. The workshop includes how to implement No Till as part of regenerative agriculture principles, a survey to determine your gardening needs, an introduction to the Master Gardener Training Garden (MGTG), how to use a QR code and access cloud documents to find more information, and answer questions.Mango Varieties for the Home Garden | 9:00 - 9:45 am ($10 fee): Learn about those delicious, juicy mango varieties that can be planted in home gardens. A 45 minute PowerPoint presentation by the Urban Garden Center fruit hui members.Plant Diagnostics Workshop | 10:00 - 11:00 am ($15 fee): Learn how to identify pests and damage. Learn about ways to prevent or treat the most common pest problems with the least impact on the environment. You may bring plant pest samples in a sealed zip lock bag. We will do our best to identify them.UGC Guidelines: Event hours from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. You are welcome to arrive 20 min prior to your workshop time to register.All guests must sign a UGC consent waiver at the registration area upon arrival. Parents/guardians must provide supervision of minors at all times during the event to ensure their safety and security. Bring drinking water to stay hydrated in the heat. Food will not be for sale.
