This is a FREE 4-hour workshop for Lehigh Valley, PA area Journalists and active Freelancers working with recognized LV area media outlets. Domestic Hostile Environment First Aid Training This in-person workshop will cover domestic newsgathering safety concerns and strategies to deal with these changing conditions. This workshop is approximately 75% lecture and class activities and 25% outdoor skills simulation. This course is appropriate for ALL journalists and desk staff including reporters, photojournalists, assignment editors and producers. Even if you dont work in the field or do on occasion, its helpful to understand planning and safety management measures. Some of the topics we will cover include; Threats, Hazards and PlanningFirst Aid: Stop the BleedPersonal SafetyVerbal De EscalationDISASTERS: Low Resource ReportingCivil Unrest & PPEEmotional Wellbeing and Self CareWeapons AwarenessPLEASE NOTE: Role-play simulations will feature loud noises, theatrical blood and props.
