On the Summer Solstice, the Earth’s semi-axis is most inclined towards the sun. This is the longest day of the year. Throughout history and across numerous cultures, the Summer Solstice has been marked as a time of celebration. In Yoga, it is one of the most important periods for strengthening practices.
The Summer Solstice symbolizes moving from the darkness of winter into the light of summer. The Earth is springing back to life. Crops thrive under the heat and light of the sun, and so do us humans.
The Summer Solstice is a perfect opportunity to bring the sun’s energy and symbolism to our yoga practice.
In this special event, we invite you to join several Crosby Wellness Centers Yoga Instructors as they lead you through 108 Sun Salutations in the beautiful and light-filled Center for Health & Wellbeing Commons. All fitness and yoga levels are welcome. This free program is open to the community, including Crosby Wellness Center members and non-members. Bring your mat, bring a friend and enter the summer season with intention and strength.
This program is presented by Crosby Wellness Center and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
