The time has come for CRC to host our Annual Meeting, and you are invited to join us! The meeting will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, 11am-12pm. Attendance can be in person at the South Hadley library, or virtually with Zoom. Those who attend in person are welcome to stay after the meeting to mingle with our Board and Staff from noon-1pm. Connecticut River Conservancy greatly appreciates the participation of our engaged members and donors, and we extend our heartfelt thanks for all your support. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the faces behind the organization and hear the latest reporting updates directly from our leadership. We hope you can make it. Annual Meeting Agenda: ·       Welcome and introductions of Trustees ·       Determination of a quorum ·       Nomination of new Trustees for election by the membership ·       Finance and program report to the membership ·       Thank you to our departing Trustees This year’s Trustees nominations are: David Deen, Westminster, VT: David served as the River Steward for the Connecticut River Conservancy (then named Connecticut River Watershed Council) responsible for public education and advocacy on issues in the VT/NH reach of the river from 1998 until 2017, including regulatory affairs, river cleanup, barrier removal, hydro relicensing, published articles and made presentations to citizens about the river. He now serves as an honorary trustee for the Conservancy. David owned and operated Strictly Trout, a flyfishing guide service that was Orvis Endorsed in VT and licensed in NH for 25 years, at the time the oldest guide service in Vermont. He has also served in the Vermont Legislature for 30 years (28 in the House; 2 in the Senate) either on or as chair of the Natural Resources, Water Resources, and/or the Fish and Wildlife Committees among other assignments including elected by his caucus for 14 years as ranking member of the House Rules Committee. He helped found and now serves as chair of the VT/NH Connecticut River Chapter of Trout Unlimited and is a founding incorporator of the Vermont Community Foundation. He serves on the Vermont Climate Council, the Connecticut River Atlantic Salmon Commission and the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board. David holds a MS in Environmental Science from Antioch New England Graduate School. He tries to fish whenever he can. Kari Kastango, South Hadley, MA : Kari’s career began as a research exercise physiologist (UMASS, Amherst ‘89, ‘92) which then led her to pursue a PhD in Biostatistics (PITT ‘06). With 19 years in the pharmaceutical industry, Kari currently works as a director of statistical operations at a clinical research organization. In 2016 Kari began an exploration into racism and her own white conditioning. She is committed to helping create and hold space so other white people can explore how racism and white conditioning has impacted their lives and the communities they belong to while continuing her own inquiry. Kari actively fulfills this commitment as a teaching assistant with the UNtraining organization. Kari balances these professional and personal commitments through physical pursuits that are meditative in nature. She has completed two ultra-distance triathlons and is in year five of swimming the entire length of the Connecticut River. Kari lives in South Hadley, MA with her wife, Alison Garvey, and their two cats. Note to members: CRC’s by-laws provide that “[M]members may also place trustee candidates into nomination by presenting a nominating petition signed by at least twenty-five (25) Members in good standing to the Secretary within 30 days of the delivery of the note of the Annual Meeting.”  Such petitions should be received by June 1st via email to Ellen Mutter, [email protected]. Who is a member? CRC was established in 1952 as a member-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Members are those individuals who have made a financial contribution in any amount over the past fiscal year (July 1, 2022 – today). Thank you and we hope to see you soon!
