Description
We invite you to join The Thread at the third rendition of 'This is Her', a special event series hosted by Bradley Fair. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the focus of the evening is mental health. Attendees will be invited to explore the topic through local art, conversation, plus food and wine pairings during a progressive event. We aim to create an evening for women to focus on their mental health and have conversations with others about a topic that can feel stigmatic. EVENT SCHEDULE 4pm - VIP Sponsor Lounge Opens 4:30 pm - Welcome by Jessica L. Provines, Ph.D., L.P. Assistant Vice President for Wellness & Chief Psychologist at Wichita State University, Founder of Suspenders4Hope 5-7 pm - Progressive Dining: Food & Wine Pairings, Local Artists' Pecha Kucha Presentations, Intentional Conversation After the opening discussion, you will head to your first destination. Your first destination will depend on the group you choose when purchasing your tickets. You will either start by enjoying First Mile Kitchen (Group A), Everyday by Elderslie at Love of Character (Group B) or Newport Grill (Group C). If you want to enjoy the evening with girlfriends, we would suggest you purchase tickets as a group. As you rotate through each of our three restaurant partners for a progressive dinner of small plates, you will be responsible for transporting yourself from destination to destination. You may choose to do this on foot (and if so, consider comfortable footwear when dressing for the evening) or by personal vehicle. At each of these locations there will be a local female artist telling a story through the lens that her work shines on mental health, Pecha Kucha-style. Each location will have a small plate created by the respective chefs and be accompanied with a wine pairing chosen by Nelson Escalante, Certified Sommelier of LDF. 🍷 7-7:30 pm - Evening Culmination on Plaza Not ready for the fun to end? Make a reservation with party at one of our partner restaurants to cap off the evening! First Mile Kitchen Newport Grill ABOUT US The Thread is an award-winning, social entrepreneurship-focused small business that has served over 100 women locally over the past two years. Bradley Fair brings together a little bit of everything wonderful that Wichita has to offer, from local businesses, artists and entrepreneurs to that trademark hospitality that makes everyone feel at home in the heartland. The first This is Her event, held in March 2022, created by The Thread and powered by Bradley Fair with programming partner, mama.film was awarded the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion 2022 Award by the Wichita Business Journal. The tickets sold out within two weeks and the evening earned rave reviews. The second This is Her event was held in September 2022 and co-hosted by Wichita Life. It featured talks from six local women. Ticket sales sold out again quickly. MENTAL HEALTH MONTH May is Mental Health Month and a 2022 study showed that in the United States, 1 in 5 women experience a mental health disorder, such as anxiety or depression. According to the 2022 Report on the State of Mental Health by SeekHer Shift, over 37% of women say they feel lonely or misunderstood and over half of women want to practice checking in with themselves and asking for support without feelings of guilt. Although a resounding 89% of women recognize their need for self-care, only half (53.5%) actually take the time for it. We need open dialogue. 56.2% of women believe that breaking the silence regarding their own mental health will help break cultural stigmas, We aim to create a space for the women of Wichita to do that.
