The Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center celebrates the life and legacy of Malcolm X on what would have been his 98th birthday. Born Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925, Brother Malcolm X would grow to become one of history's most influential figures and intelligent proponents for human rights and global justice -- inspiring a countless number of activists for generations to come. The Shabazz Center invites you to join us for our annual tribute to Malcolm in Words and Music on Friday, May 19th, on what would have been the 98th birthday of El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz. Our keynote speaker is legendary film director Spike Lee, who is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of his award-winning film "Malcolm X". The event will feature performances from the Metropolitan Opera, Grammy Award-winner Keyon Harrold, and more. There is limited space. Please note a general RSVP does not guarantee entry. The event will also be livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube for those who aren't able to attend in-person.
