May is Mental Health Awareness Month. To help spread awareness, Northern Human Services (NHS) is collaborating with several area school districts to present a free screening of the documentary film, Anxious Nation. A free screening of the film will be held on May 10 at the White Mountains Regional High School in Whitefield; May 23 at Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro; and May 30 at the Berlin Elementary School. Mental health professionals from NHS and school counseling staff will be available after each screening to discuss the film with students, parents and other attendees. “We are excited to bring this important film to students and families in the North Country,” said Northern Human Services CEO, Suzanne Gaetjens-Oleson. “It’s a powerful film that explores anxiety and our children and we encourage families to attend together.” Funding for these screenings was provided by a grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and the Endowment for Health, with programming support from NAMI New Hampshire and the NH Community Behavioral Health Association.
