This event will feature two outstanding filmmakers, Nate Hurtsellers, Director of Photography, and Jarrett Morgan A/Steadicam Operator. They will be leading a 2-hour session to educate and inspire with a focus on blocking, and breaking down a scene to bring unique lessons from their years of collaborating with each other on set. This team exemplifies the intimacy, creativity, collaboration, and trust that can exist between cinematographers and operators in the pursuit of storytelling. You will get a unique perspective on how this duo operates, including detailed scene breakdowns, techniques for speed, lens choices and their impact, and managing expectations. Special Guests: Nate Hurtsellers is an award-winning cinematographer whose work has been screened at festivals around the world. He received his bachelor's from New York University and master’s in cinematography from the American Film Institute. Nate notably lensed Sundance 2023 Special Jury Award Winner, Theater Camp as well as SXSW 2019 Special Jury and Audience Award Winner, Saint Frances. Other feature credits include Snatchers (SXSW 2019), I Used to Go Here (SXSW 2020), and Down Low (SXSW 2023). Nate is currently wrapping up an HBO Documentary Series alongside frequent collaborator, Lance Oppenheim and beginning prep on the Netflix comedy pilot, Little Sky. Jarrett Morgan, SOC is an A/Steadicam Operator based in Atlanta, GA. Jason brings us a wealth of experience from working with excellent directors and cinematographers on projects such as Atlanta, Underground Railroad, Pitch Perfect 3, The Outsider, and many more. He has worked with Nate Hurtsellers on and off for over 10 years, making countless commercials, music videos, tv shows, and features together. This past year Jarrett was nominated for the SOC Operator of the Year award in the television category for his work on Atlanta Season 3.
