The Slice Baking Studios is a series of classes offered throughout the year at HomeSliced Eatery of Conover. The Eatery hosted it's first summer camps in 2022 and we are excited to bring them back for 2023! Each camp will only be 9 students aged 7-17. Each day students will complete various baking projects with the help of two instructors. It's important to us that each student receives individual attention so they can work on their skills no matter their experience in the kitchen. Camp will take place Monday 7/24, Tuesday 7/25, and Thursday 7/27. There will be no camp on Wednesday or Friday. Camp begins at 10am with drop-off starting at 9:30am. Camp ends at 2pm, all students must be picked up by 2:30pm. Each day campers will start the day with a 2-hour learning session on the third floor of Conover Station. The group will take a lunch break at the park outside where they can also enjoy outdoor play on the available playgrounds and fields. The final hour of the day the group will put the finishing touches on their baking projects before taking them home. Campers will learn the skills needed to bake cakes from scratch, level cakes, make icing from scratch, ice cakes evenly, and add embellishments to cakes such as borders and design elements. Each camper will make their own 6" 2-layer cake from start to finish and bring it home to share with their family. Campers will also learn how to make cinnamon rolls from scratch, taking home their set of 6-8 rolls and a recipe to remake it on their own. Campers will also learn how to make cake pops from start to finish, bringing home their finished set of 6-8 cake pops. Preparing for each day at camp: We will begin promptly at 10am and finish by 2pm each day. Please plan to pickup your camper by 2:30pm. Campers will not be allowed to leave without a parent signing them out so please prepare to come inside for drop off and pickup. Each camper needs to bring a bagged lunch that does not require refrigeration. Water bottles will be provided for each camper. We will be in the park for lunch and a break for approximately 1 hour, please apply any desired sunblock before drop-off. We will not be playing in the splash pad on Monday or Tuesday but if you'd like your child to be able to play in the splash pad, we will have time to do so on Thursday at the end of the day so please prepare by packing a change of clothes and towel. If your child doesn't have a change of clothes and a towel, we won't allow them to play in the splash pad. Be prepared to enjoy a 6" cake, a set of cake pops, and cinnamon rolls the week of camp! Campers will bring home their cinnamon rolls on day 1, their cake on day 2, and their cake pops on day 3. REQUIRED INFORMATION AFTER TICKET PURCHASE: To complete registration we need the following information emailed to [email protected]: Name on ticket Name of Child Age of Child / Birthday Cake Flavor: Vanilla, Chocolate, or Yellow. Icing colors (choose 2): white, red, blue, yellow, pink, purple, teal, green, orange, grey. Any allergies that need to be considered for each camper If we do not receive an email with the above information your child is not registered for camp. Eventbrite is being used as our quick payment method but the email accompanying your payment is what secures your spot in camp. WAIVER: On day 1 of camp every camper will require a WAIVER and RELEASE OF LIABILITY signed by their parent.
