Rain gardens, pollinator gardens, and other native plantings across the Polk County park system provide a wide variety of benefits for wildlife, water quality, education, and even social connections. Join us on select Tuesday mornings at Polk County River Place and dive into the world of native plants to make a positive impact in PCC gardens this growing season. By attending these events you’ll broaden your native plant knowledge as it relates to conservation, maintenance, ecology, and how to start your own native garden at home. Tuesday garden events in will have seasonal focuses on identification of native species & weeds, and general information about native gardens, rain gardens, and environmental benefits. ACTIVITY: Gardening (weeding, planting, mulching) PHYSICAL DIFFICULTY: Easy, Moderate REGISTRATION: Required - opens July 3, 2023 *By registering for this event, I acknowledge that it may include a registration waitlist. In the event that I and/or members of my group are unable to attend, I will cancel my registration to allow for others to join this event. DEADLINE: Register by noon August 15, 2023 COST: Free GROUPS ALLOWED: Yes LOCATION DETAILS: Polk County River Place, 2309 Euclid Ave. Des Moines, IA 50310 WHAT TO BRING: It is recommended to dress for the weather, wear long pants, and closed-toe shoes. Bring a refillable water bottle and garden gloves if you have them. Gloves will be provided for those without.
