The Convocation, meaning group of eagles, is the exclusive bottle membership club of Horus Aged Ales, and this will be its sixth year of existence, running from 6/1/2023 to 5/31/2024. Years of patience and my faith that great beers would turn into extraordinary beers has certainly paid off. It took me over a half decade to get here, but this is where I hoped my barrel catalog would be someday, and this is without a doubt the best group of beers I have ever released by a long shot…I am so stoked for this year’s club! My goal is to have all the included beers for both tiers available at the first pickup (non-leftover sale). There will be two pickups for the leftover sale in June 2023. The first pickup for included beers will be some time in June or July and if everything goes as planned, all included beers will be ready to be picked up by then. The Crowned Eagle tier includes twelve 22 ounce bottles of beer total. All of them are club exclusives, none of them will be released to the public. The following 12 bottles are included: -3 bottles of Saw-Whet’s Shrill: Imperial Stout with Comoros Vanilla Beans, Hazelnuts, and Samoa Cookies Added; collaboration with Troon Brewing of Hopewell, New Jersey -3 bottles of Flammulated Floccinaucinihilipilifaction: Imperial Stout with Auromar Estates Panama Geisha Firestone Washed Coffee, Coconut Milk Sugar, Coconut Sugar, Desiccated Coconut, New Caledonia Vanilla Beans, Raw Coconut, and Toasted Coconut Added; collaboration with Brujos Brewing of Portland, Oregon -3 bottles of Bird Song: Imperial Stout with Toasted Coconut and Wisconsin Maple Syrup Added; collaboration with Mikerphone Brewing of Elk Grove Village, Illinois -3 bottles of Nano Challa: Imperial Stout with Ethiopian Heirloom Coffee and Hazelnuts Added; fan favorite previously draft only beer that I have not made again in the past 3-4 years Also, there will be several exclusive member barrel aged beers for sale throughout the year. Some of the first examples of those might be a blend of triple barrel aged CrystAles and triple barrel aged English Barleywines, three different Willett Family Estate Heaven Hill stamped 11 Year Bourbon Barrel aged Stouts, two other barrel aged Stouts featuring banana, barrel aged Stout featuring Emperor’s Coconut, barrel aged Stout featuring coconut and peanut butter, double barrel aged version of Goat Hill, double barrel aged version of Maple Maple Distraction, the first two Dark CrystAles, Cloud Breaker Seven, Cloud Breaker Eight, Anchorage / Evil Twin collab blend, my first double barrel aged English Barleywine, non-adjunct Stouts from previous collaboration bases (Feather Pluckin’,Seagle Not Seagull, Sky Rider, Thicc Skin, etc.), several other non-adjunct Stouts, and last but certainly not least, my first quadruple barrel aged Stout. Other included perks of the club this year consist of the following: -First access to purchase any future local Horus events, whether it is a festival, pairing dinner, or tasting - There will be several additional club exclusive beers that will be made available for purchase throughout the year but will not be included for free in the membership. Most, if not all Horus beers in general like the past few years, will be club exclusives this year again -You will get a unique email each time that gets you into the Event Brite sales. If you share these emails with anybody else besides your proxy, you will be removed from the club immediately, no questions asked Like the previous three years, there is a possibility that I do an El Cerrito Liquor exclusive beer with a barrel or some of the barrels from our previous single barrel whiskey picks that would only be available to the general public at his store -Members have the first right to renew membership each year for as long as the club exists The cost to join the Crowned Eagle tier of The Convocation is the same as last year, $400 plus tax and Eventbrite fees for what is included above (twelve 22 ounce bottles of club exclusive beer). The Year Six membership will be active from June 2023 to May 2024. There will be at least twelve different pickup opportunities spread randomly throughout the year, but my goal is to have many more than that like I did these past years and also continue to mix them up between Saturdays and Sundays. If you cannot make it to a pickup, you can just grab your allotments at the next pickup or the one after that or the one after that, no big deal. Club members just need to pick up all beers by the end of the membership year (May 2024) regardless of if they will be part of the club the following year. Don’t sweat it if you cannot make it to each one or if you can only come once or twice per year, your beers will be stored until you can pick them up until the last pickup in May. Just remember I do not have a tasting room and the pickups are on specific dates, so please make sure you or a proxy can eventually come to pick up your beers. If you would like to name a proxy, you may name one or change one as stated above. Also, somebody can be a proxy / trustee for more than one person if need be. A proxy can be a member of the club themselves or they do not have to be, anybody may proxy. Either only you or your proxy/trustee must pick up your allotments in person, no exceptions. Your proxy/trustee cannot be changed for the entire membership year after your first pickup. You have until Sunday, May 14th at 11:59 pm to sign up for the lottery...good luck!
