Join Mexican/Lebanese artist Georgina Reskala as she leads community in a workshop for collective healing. Engage in the act of sewing and textile collage with the artist as she leads us in the process of mending ourselves and our world. By writing, drawing or sewing on a piece of fabric your fears, troubles, heartaches and wishes we will collectively shape a large textile piece--adding fabric to a large canvas quilt with safety pins, ties or needle and thread. No sewing experience necessary. This is a FREE event. All are welcome. This workshop is brought to you by Santa Monica Cultural Affairs as part of Day of Art and Well-Being at the Annenberg Community Beach House. Georgina Reskala Bio:Georgina Reskala is a Mexican-Lebanese artist working and living in Santa Monica. She studied communication science in Mexico and holds an AA in psychology. She has a BFA and an MFA from California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is in many private and public collectionsn including Cassilhaus Collection, Chapel Hill, NC, Frye Art Museum, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, and the Portland Art Museum, Portland, OR. She is represented by PDX CONTEMPORARY ART in Portland, OR. Reskala teaches Creative Inquiry, The Art of Storytelling, and the Poetics of Space at the Harvey Milk Photo Center in San Francisco and is an associate professor at California College of the Arts.
