Located in Harleston Village, 6 Montagu is a grand 1803 house built by saddler John Rudolph Switzer. After a rehabilitation in 1964, a fire in 2016, and many years as a multi-unit rental property, 6 Montagu is now being restored back to a single-family residence. Join the Preservation Society, Rockwell Construction, and architect Simons Young, to learn more about preservation methods, architectural history, construction and craftsmanship as we explore this project. The tour will be followed by light refreshments and the opportunity for further discussion. Please Note: The tour will be taking place in an active construction site. For everyone's safety, we ask all attendees to please wear closed-toed shoes. All participants will be required to sign a general liability waiver upon arrival.The building may not be climate controlled and restrooms are not available. Please plan accordingly.The tour will begin at 4 PM and lasts approximately 1-1.5 hours with a light reception to follow.
