Learn how knowing the ecology of wild mushrooms can help you find them. Mushroom identification will be explored in-depth with an emphasis on mushroom photography as an important tool. Ryan and Emily will teach science-based, safe methods to experience the amazing world of wild mushrooms. Students should bring cameras or phones with ringers off. Please note that foraging and collecting are restricted on Norman Bird Sanctuary property. This hike is the second part of a two-part series. FAQ: Free parking will be available in the main lot at the Norman Bird Sanctuary. This event will meet outside of the NBS Welcome Center. Inclement weather policy: This event will be cancelled in unsafe weather conditions. In the case of cancellation, refunds will be issued through Eventbrite. There is no rain/snow date. Refund policy: Tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather, tickets will be refunded through Eventbrite. Venue Guidelines: The Norman Bird Sanctuary is a nonprofit wildlife sanctuary and environmental education center. All proceeds directly support our mission to protect our 300-acre refuge for the benefit of wildlife and the community to enjoy. All guests are asked to respect the following guidelines: Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited. Outside beverages and seating are not permitted. Dogs and other pets are not allowed. Service animals are permitted. Norman Bird Sanctuary events are fundraisers in support of our mission to engage a community of stewards to preserve, protect and enjoy this 300-acre property and the ecosystems within and beyond its stone walls. Through conservation, historic preservation, education and exploration, we foster lifelong connections between people and the Sanctuary’s rich and diverse habitats.
