Description
Join WineNot and special Guest Cameron Bartlett from Vinilandia as we explore Northern Spain’s wines from Galicia, Rioja, and Catalonia What style of wine is each region known for? Which area’s wine do you like the best? Let’s “travel” around Northern Spain and taste some of the regions finest wines so we can answer these questions! To the far Northeast of Spain, bordering France, you will find the region of Catalonia. Home of Barcelona and arguably even more important, home to the Cava. In addition to producing beautiful sparkling wines, Catalonia also houses the small gem, Priorat. Traveling to Northwestern Spain you will find the region of Galicia. With the Mino river as a natural border to Portugal, Galicia’s wines share a cultural heritage to both that of Spain and Portugal. Neighboring the Atlantic ocean, this region of Spain sees nearly 50 inches of rainfall a year! Known across the world for the Tempranillo that is grown here, the Region of Rioja lies in central-northern Spain. With 3 sub-regions, Rioja Alta, Rioja Oriental, and Rioja Alavesa this historic region of Spain has been growing grapes and making wine since the year 873! In this class we will serve 5 wines, artisan cheeses, dried fruit, and chocolate. Wines: 1. Montsarra Cava Brut NV, Catalonia $20.99 2. Columna Albarino 2019, Rias Baixas, Galicia $22.99 3.
