Ever since starting my business, I have been wanting to design and host charity events several times a year - one event every season. I hosted several smaller charity fundraisers for my senior project for my Bachelor's degree, but have not had the chance to actually put one together yet. And, with the global pandemic shutting everything down for the last 3 years, trying to create such an event as a charity ball was impossible! However, with restrictions being lifted more and more, and society getting back to "normal," I am happy and excited to announce that I have been able to create a new event... RISE OF THE PHOENIX CHARITY BALL; benefiting The United Leukodystrophy Foundation! WHAT is Leukodystrophy? Leukodystrophy is a rare genetic brain disorder that affects the white matter of the brain. The white matter is what surrounds and protects the central nervous system. There are over 40 types of Leukodystrophy. Currently, there is no cure for Leukodystrophy, and most children diagnosed with Leukodystrophy will not live to adulthood. WHY Leukodystrophy? A little more than eight years ago, my nephew, Noland, was diagnosed with this disease, and seven years later, his sister, my niece, Aryabella, was also diagnosed with this disease. And while these two have what is considered the "good" version of the disease, it is not without challenges and heartbreak. My niece and nephew are doing okay, and continue to make progress every day. However, it is our hope to bring awareness to, and about, ALL forms of this debilitating disease, as well as try to help research progress to the point of finding a cure. So, please join us for a night of food, dancing, live entertainment, and a silent auction. ALL proceeds from the silent auction will go to benefit the United Leukodystrophy Foundation.
