The laughter is coming to Owego when Homebrewed Comedy hits the stage at the John Barleycorn on Wednesday, May 31. Ryan Garcia is headlining the show and Kai VonDoom and Jackie Valentino are joining host Mike Peters. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and there's a recommended $5 donation at the door, which opens at 7. Come out and enjoy the show. About the comedians: Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters is the founder of Homebrewed Comedy. He hosts at the Syracuse Funny Bone and Wise Crackers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcasts, On the Mic with Mike Peters and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast. Jackie Valentino is a comedian from Rochester. A finalist at the 2022 Innerloop Blog Roast Battle, Valentino produces the Jack in The Box Comedy Showcase every month. After starting stand-up in 2021, Valentino tells jokes all over New York on top of performing and creating cosplays for various anime conventions. Kai VonDoom’s likeability, work ethic and ability to find humor in taboo subjects have helped her become a staple in the Rochester comedy scene. She’s opened for Orlando Jones, Shuli Egar and Justin Lawson, and she could write a novel based on the DMs she’s gotten from creepy guys. Ryan Garcia is a Rochester-based comic who's performed all over the area in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse and New York City. He won R.I.T.'s Funniest Comic in 2019, performed at sold-out Fringe Festival shows and was a semifinalist in Rochester's Funniest Person in 2019. Hot, humble, and good at writing his own bios, Garcia can be seen performing on shows all over the state, including Rochester's Comedy at the Carlson.
