Description
The Hannibal Arts Council continues its popular Coffee Talk Conversation Series in June. The next program, titled “Dreams in Bloom” will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1 at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S. Main St. The program is FREE and open to the public. Program partners include Wade Stables P.C. and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency. The June speaker is Lynn (Vessell) Windmeyer, a Hannibal native born and raised, who is now settled in St. Joseph, MO with her husband Tim and four children. For the last seven years the couple have been learning as much as possible about flower farming and sharing it with the community around them. Beginning in April of each year their flower farm, Homeplace Fields, operates as a seasonal florist, designing arrangements only from what they grow. Windmeyer’s life journey led her from Hannibal to the University of Missouri-Columbia for a Textile and Apparel Management degree, work in bridal and dance wear industries, non-profit work in Kenya where her love for flowers began, a stint in mountains of North Carolina, to dreams becoming reality when moving back to her husband’s family farm in Missouri. Windmeyer has been dreaming of bringing her Missouri Grown flowers to her hometown for some time now. This year she is partnering with the Hannibal Arts Council to make that a reality through a Route 36 Bouquet subscription featuring flowers lovingly grown by the young couple. The Coffee Talk Conversation Series is designed to be relaxed, informal and informative. Through the Coffee Talk Conversation Series, the Hannibal Arts Council will present community members speaking on various topics, including travel, history, health, food, well-being and yes, art. The series is designed on the premise that everyone has a story and a wide variety of interests and are sometimes willing to share that with an audience.
