Drumming is one of the most fun and easy ways to connect with others in a group setting. It can be healing for internal organs, especially the heart, and it creates a feeling of connection between the people playing.
In this class, we'll learn a combination of free play jamming, learning specific African rhythms, getting to use general patterns that can be used in almost any drum circle, playing with call and response, and a bit of creating new patterns of our own. The rhythms we'll learn will be primarily for the djembe or similar sized drum—although an ashiko or dundun will sometimes be incorporated as well.
This class is designed for beginners and intermediate players alike—everyone is welcome!
