MILTON, MA — The Town of Milton has reopened its parks and playgrounds to the public for active use following a month-long closure due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Board of Park Commissioners approved the decision as of Tuesday morning, according to a Milton Parks & Recreation Facebook post. The town's parks and playgrounds had been closed since Dec. 9. The board said marks will still be required at all parks and playgrounds in the town. Milton's tennis courts, basketball courts, and street hockey rinks are not included in the reopening and will remain closed until further notice. The Town of Milton remains in the COVID-19 "red zone", reporting 1,353 cases since the start of the pandemic and 238 in the two weeks before Jan. 7. The town currently has an average daily incidence rate of 59.1 and a positivity rate of 5.21%.
