Description

The Queen B. LiT Ladies Ball honors Black women and girls in an intimate but formal affair modeled after Oprah Winfrey's 2007 Legends Ball. The LiT Ball, named after Indy native and poet Blanche "Queen B." Jackson, was created to give women their flowers while they can still use their senses to experience them. It also serves as a stroke awareness event, helping Black women gain more access to resources and information about stroke prevention, which is the leading cause of death of Black women. This year's ball will honor 15 women with three high honors for cultural, community, and elder impact and will be held in both the Center for Black Literature and Culture as well as the Simon Reading Room and the Indianapolis Central Public Library, in downtown Indianapolis. Special guests, art, music, tributes, and more. Check back for updated details. Free and open to the public but seats are limited due to space.
