Catholic Charities' 6th Immigration Conference will be held June 29 at the Mirro Center in Fort Wayne. The all-day event is for professionals working with the immigrant population in northeast Indiana, as well as employers. 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. Registration and Breakfast 8:30 to 8:45 a.m. Welcome, Dan Florin, CEO and Luz Ostrognai of Catholic Charities 8:45 to 9:00 a.m. Mayor Tom Henry 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. The Economic Power of Immigrants in Indiana, Michael Hicks 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Overview of the Four Different Types of Immigration Status Categories: Citizens, Residents, Non-Immigrants, and Undocumented Immigrants, Lisa Koop 10:45 to 12:30 p.m. Employment-Based Immigration and Labor Certification, Mandira Sethi 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. Lunch 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Overview of the Border Situation and the Asylum Process, Tania Guerrero 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. A Summary of what U.S.CIS, U.S. DHS, U.S.CBP and U.S. ICE are and the differences between these agencies and and overview of the Naturalization Process, Cecilia Deypalubos The $75 registration fee will cover a light breakfast and lunch. Human Resources will learn about the economic benefits of immigration and ways your company can employ more skilled labor immigrants. These sessions will be in the morning. Service Providers will learn ways to help clients with work authorization issues and status adjustment processes, as well as learn important immigration vocabulary that can strengthen the services they provide. Attorneys will learn about the different types of legal statuses, employment-based immigration, status adjustment processes, and the naturalization and asylum processes.
