About this EventOverviewAMC chapters from the northeast are coming together to host a community climbing weekend at Rumney Rocks specifically for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) climbers. BIPOC Climbing Weekend endeavors to promote skill development and foster community building among our attendees. AMC volunteers will host FREE climbing clinics on Saturday and a Stewardship project on Sunday. You must pre-register for each activity. No prior climbing experience necessary! If you need to borrow gear, please let us know on the registration page. After climbing, we hope you will join us for dinner and informal socializing around the campfire. BIPOC Climbing Weekend will be held at Rumney Rocks and at the BarnDoor Hostel and Campground. Weekend & Clinic RegistrationOur humble offering of climbing skill clinics will be hosted by AMC volunteers and stewardship by Access Fund and Rumney Climbers Association ambassadors. Clinics and stewardship will be free of charge to those who register. Register for your Saturday accommodations and for the clinic of your choice on this Eventbrite page by clicking tickets and the clinics are listed below the lodging tickets. Remember, you can only attend one clinic per day. Please only register for your own lodging and clinics. If there are others in your party looking to attend, please have them register individually. If you are not attending a clinic, please feel free to self-organize to enjoy climbing for the day. If you need a partner, a "Find a Partner" sign up sheet will be shared with you upon confirmation of registration. AccommodationsThe BIPOC Climbing Weekend will be hosted at the BarnDoor Hostel, about 2 miles away from the Rumney Climbing area. The BarnDoor can provide indoor and outdoor accommodations depending on your choice to either camp out or enjoy the indoor comforts of either a bunk bed or a hammock. There are 18 bunk beds and plenty of campground space for outdoor camping under the stars. There are multiple bathrooms and showers with ADA bathrooms/showers available. Bunks and camping space are first come, first serve. We endeavor to make this event accessible to people with varying levels of outdoor experience. If you are comfortable camping outside, we encourage you to let others who might not have camping gear use the indoor space You are welcome to register for clinics if you decide to secure your own accommodations for the weekend while we still encourage you to spend time with us at BarnDoor Hostel! Parking & CarpoolIf staying at the BarnDoor Hostel, there is plenty of parking space to accommodate all. We still encourage carpools if possible. Please be aware that parking at Rumney Crag is limited and can fill up quickly on busy weekends. If you are looking for options to carpool, a link to a Carpool Signup Sheet will be shared upon confirmation of your registration. Food & BeveragesSaturday dinner and Sunday breakfast are included as part of the event and both will take place at the BarnDoor Hostel. We’ll have Thai catered from a local restaurant for dinner on Saturday and a continental breakfast on Sunday. Please note that lunch and snacks during the day for both Saturday and Sunday are on your own. Potable water as well as a kitchenette is available for use at the BarnDoor Hostel.
