Symposium GoalBecome immersed in the science of nurse incivility and bullying with a deep dive into best practices and solutions to mitigate/prevent hostile work behaviors. SpeakersLorie H. Judson, PhD, RN, NP, FAAN, serves as the Executive Director of the Chin Family Institute for Nursing at California State University, Los Angeles. Dr. Judson is Professor Emerita from the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing, and former Director. Cecelia L. Crawford, DNP, RN, PHN, FAAN, is a Research Program Manager of the Office of Research, Patient Care Services, Stanford Health Care. Dr. Crawford is also the founder and inaugural director of the Academy of Evidence-Based Practice. Both Dr. Judson and Dr. Crawford will be presenting on "Nurse Civility and Why It Matters: The Elephant in the Room." Dan Weberg, PhD, MHI, RN, FAAN, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and provides consulting services to a number of organizations to support strategy and innovation ecosystems to improve healthcare. Dr. Weberg is part of the faculty at The Ohio State University College of Nursing and multiple innovation fellowship programs. He is on the editorial board for Nursing Administration Quarterly and the American Nurses Association Innovation Advisory Board. Dr. Weberg will be presenting on “Disrupting the System to Facilitate Change.” Michelle Y. Williams, PhD, MSN, RN, holds positions at Stanford University School of Medicine as Executive Director, Health Equity and Research at Stanford Health Care (SHC), Clinical Assistant Professor, and Section Chief of the Nursing Research Section, Division of Primary Care Population Health. Dr. Williams will be presenting on “Nurses’ Psychological Trauma: Structural & Systemic Factors: Improving Human-Centered Civility in Nursing.” Nancy Blake, PhD, RN, CCRN-K, NEA-BC, NHDP-BC, FACHE, FAONL, FAAN, serves as the Chief Nursing Officer at LAC+USC Medical Center, and in addition to this, Dr. Blake teaches at the UCLA School of Nursing as an adjunct associate professor. Dr. Blake has been an active member of ANA, SPN, ACNL, AONL, and AACN and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Organization of Nurse Leaders, and the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Blake will be presenting on “Stepping into the Lion’s Den: Real World Advice on Dealing with Incivility in the Workplace and Improving the Work Environment in Our Profession.” Nelda Godfrey, PhD, ACNS-BC, RN, FAAN, ANEF, is Professor and Associate Dean for Innovative Partnerships and Practice at the University of Kansas School of Nursing, Kansas City, KS. Dr. Godfrey is formerly one of two co-leaders for the Missouri Action Coalition, supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and currently chairs the American Nurses Association Ethics and Human Rights Advisory Board.
