Vermouth may be the most misunderstood cocktail ingredient. Known for its important role in classics like the Manhattan and Martini, it is often reviled by those who have never had a fresh, properly-stored bottle of vermouth. Vermouth is ultimately a wine product and as such is vulnerable to spoilage after opening, just like a bottle of wine. Yet when freshness is ensured, and when bottom shelf brands are eschewed, vermouth can play a starring role in many cocktails. In this class, Nick Wheeler will present a range of cocktails that feature vermouths of every type from the bright and botanical dry vermouth to the classic Italian sweet red vermouth to the sweet yet subtle blanc or bianco styles. Expect to see innovative vermouths as well, that bend style guidelines, and use unique ingredients. Some cocktails will be classics while others may be recent bartender creations or even originals crafted around our vermouth selection. Some will show how vermouth acts as an excellent supporting player while others will let it take the lead. It is sure to be a delicious and educational class for all imbibers. Must be 21+ to attend.
