Description

This event is being held by the NAACP Wisconsin State Conference of Branches' Education Committee along with the community group Women Leaving the Clubs. Our featured guest will be Dr. Tamika Johnson, the NAACP Education Chair, Kenya Robertson, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Brenda Wesley, a Mental Health Advocate, Pamela Holmes, a Community Advocate, Dr. Patricia McManus, the CEO of the Black Health Coalition of Wisconsin, Aisha Carr, a MPS School Board Director, and Sierra Lee, who is the President of the UWM Black Student Union and Mental Health Advocate. There will be food, fun, local vendors, music by Milwaukee's own DJ Jay Anderson and comedy by Milwaukee's own comedian Ol' School. There will be much excitement and enjoyment while we discuss this important topic. The objective is to get the community together for fun while discussing a very important topic that's plaguing black children and families. Managing our Mental Health is something that's been stigmatized and ignored in the black community for so long, so during Mental Health Awareness Month we want our community to become more aware of available resources and become more informed on the topic. We all have mental health and mental health management is something men, women and children can include in our everyday practices.
