Description

In this 2-hour introductory clinic, we will cover the skill essentials to help youth and families on their path to loving riding bikes on dirt (even on roots and rocks!)Our INTRO TO MOUNTAIN BIKING clinic for youth/families is perfect for the beginner riders, or intermediate riders who wants to refresh foundational skills. By the end of this clinic, you'll be equipped with a solid toolkit to help you tackle beginner singletrack trails confidently and smoothly. Our local, expert clinic leaders will cover the basics: body position, braking, shifting, and starting and stopping on hills and into cornering. We will keep you moving as much as possible with feedback and encouragement. Clinics are limited to 10 participants so instructors can provide individualized support. LOCATION: We will be using the NEW all-weather trails at Aldo Leopold Park on the South Side of Madison for these trails so the classes can happen rain or shine (lightning not so much). EQUIPMENT: At minimum, you'll need a helmet, close-toed footwear, and an operable, maintained basic mountain bike (with front suspension). We will have limited snacks and water available, but please come prepared with your own nutrition and hydration needs, too! - WHAT ARE CORP CLINICS? Capital Off-Road Pathfinders (CORP) is your local trail organization. CORP builds, maintains, and advocates for trails across south-central Wisconsin. When you attend these clinics, ALL of your proceeds go directly to help CORP build and support more awesome trails in our area. WHO ARE OUR CLINIC INSTRUCTORS? Clinic instructors include local youth MTB coaches or local MTB experts/legends...and they're all terrific volunteers who are dedicating their skills and expertise to CORP. You'll have a blast with these fun folk and terrific teachers! WHAT IS THE SUGGESTED DONATIONMost mountain bike clinics cost several hundred dollars for a few hours of instruction; we suggest a $100 donation for CORP members, and a $150 donation for non-members (which includes an annual membership to CORP!) Our instructors are all volunteers, and 100% of your contributions toward our clinics go directly toward building and supporting mountain bike trails in our area! We want all folks to be involved in our awesome local mountain bike community. If the cost of a clinic is a hardship, you can pay less than the suggested amount.
