Description

Do you know which group of herbs have withstood the test of time and always been at hand? Even through the waves of domestication, consumerism, and modern medicine, do you know the herbal allies that have always been by our side? The ones with a deep, gentle power about them to nourish and heal us, even unknowingly? The ones our ancestors reached for by pure instinct, even when they didn’t know they needed their healing? The Culinary Herbs Sage, thyme, rosemary, oregano & garlic, among others, have been in kitchens and hand made recipes for ages. Even when generations stepped away from nature and shied away from plant medicine, these herbs have always been a staple in kitchens and cooking around the globe. Did you know rosemary is beneficial to the memory & cognitive functions? That oregano promotes a healthy heart and thyme supports our respiratory system? We'll take a stroll through the garden to meet the culinary herbs and discuss their medicinal properties and growing habits. We'll talk about when to harvest the herbs, proper methods to do so, and take turns harvesting some culinary herbs to make remedies together. We will then explore healing herbal kitchen remedies to be incorporated into everyday cooking, as well as preparations to work with during times of illness. Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food! Five reduced-price scholarship tickets are available for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color), until maximum attendance is reached. Email us at [email protected] to claim one! ** Remember: This event takes place outside. Be sure to dress for the weather & possibility of insects. ** Potted seedlings and divisions are available for donation at all our public events, as well as seeds, and printed or recorded music & art publications from Jim & Peggy Duke.
