Description
Registration required @ https://rowecenter.org/restoring-the-soul-after-war-a-memorial-day-retreat-for-people-in-military-service-veterans-and-those-who-love-them/ Memorial Day began during the Civil War as a day set aside to honor and grieve the fallen from both sides. All of us, especially our veterans and their families, feel the effect of war and need such sacred times, removed from life’s pressures, to reflect and heal from our war wounds, losses, and concerns. This is the eighth year in a row we offer this event. We will guide a weekend of honoring & healing the impacts of war on veterans, those who love them, and anyone who has been impacted by war. We invite you to join us for this heartfelt retreat experience. Memorial Day began during the Civil War as a day set aside to honor & grieve the fallen from both sides. This year we invite you to take time away from the cultural trivialities of cookouts and flag waving for a weekend of sincere exploration of warrior healing traditions and working in community to restore wholeness, heal old griefs, rebuild identities, and bring meaning to tragedy. Together we will honor the inner world of combat, and the universal dimensions of warriorhood. By joining retreats and pilgrimages like these, you support not just your own, but also the collective, global work of healing from the traumas of war. Ed and Kate have worked with veterans and their families for nearly three decades. They invite you– whether you’re a veteran, active-duty military service member, family member, helping professional, or other caring civilian– to join this Memorial Day intensive retreat. They’ll introduce you to a pioneering method of healing by exploring the inner world of combat and the universal dimensions of warriorhood through storytelling, self- and family testimonies, history, mythology, cross-cultural ceremonies, and more. You’ll practice guiding warriors and civilians on the journey to restoring wholeness, working together to help rebuild identities, shrink trauma, and bring meaning to tragedy.
