Mountain Jams Concert Series is proud to present a hometown favorite: The Original Cowboy Band, free at Library Park Stage.
The Original Cow Boy Band is a 2005 reincarnation of a concert band that was formed in 1879 in Dodge City, Kansas, whose purpose at the time was to play for stockmen's conventions. In 1890 the band moved to Silverton, Colorado, followed by Ouray in 1902, Pueblo in 1903, and ending up in Idaho Springs, Colorado, in 1905.
In 2005, The Original Cow Boy Band was re-formed at the request of Wil Swart of Evergreen to perform at a Memorial Day ceremony in Idaho Springs, 100 years to the day after the band played the same ceremony there in 1905. The band now consists of both amateur and professional musicians, with a music library that has expanded over the years to include patriotic, americana, western, big band, oktoberfest and christmas music.
