Silicon Valley, Swisscom 6:50 pm: Break 7:00 pm: Panel Discussion, Audience Q&A 8pm: Program Conclusion SpeakersDr. Kai Goebel, VP, Director of Intelligent Systems Lab at PARC, now part of SRI Kai Goebel is a seasoned research manager with more than a quarter century experience in the innovation sector of corporate and government organizations where he has been leading research teams as project manager and line manager. His research interest is in using AI for resilience, autonomous systems, and systems health management. He has transitioned technology into practice, including to the International Space Station, Small Sats, to Space Launch Systems, commercial airlines, FAA, UTM, aircraft engines operations, and into a commercial spinout for predictive maintenance. He is currently lab director of the Intelligent Systems Lab at PARC (which just became part of SRI). He is also an Adjunct Professor at Luleå Technical University. Prior to joining PARC, Dr. Goebel worked at NASA Ames Research Center where he was the Area Lead for Discovery and Systems Health. There he founded the Prognostics Center of Excellence which spearheaded development of prognostic techniques, metrics, and generation of publicly available run-to-failure datasets for various components. Kai started his professional career at GE Corporate R&D where he developed and fielded data-driven analytics applications for manufacturing systems, energy applications, medical systems, and transportation systems. He holds 19 patents and has published more than 400 papers in the field. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley in 1996. Dr. Goebel was an adjunct professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and guest professor at University of Cincinnati. He is a member of ASME, IEEE, SAE, AAAI; co-founder and fellow of the Prognostics and Health Management Society; and associate editor of the International Journal of PHM. Dr. Sarah Luger , Principal, Technology Group, Orange Silicon Valley Sarah Luger believes that consumers should be able to purchase the products they want in the language of their choice. Her professional background blends NLP (Natural Language Processing) engineering and product architecture, responsible AI, conversational AI, emerging machine translation technologies for under resourced languages, and she built several “first-of-a-kind” NLP solutions including automated email and text response experiences that are mainstream today. Dr. Luger leads efforts at Orange Silicon Valley in NLP and Responsible AI. She received her BS from Swarthmore College and both a Master of Science and PhD in Informatics from the University of Edinburgh. Stefan Petzov , VP Innovation and Technology , Swisscom Silicon Valley Outpost Stefan Petzov is leading Swisscom’s Innovation Lab in Silicon Valley. In this role, he is responsible for identifying and evaluating new technologies and services. Stefan is also responsible for strategic innovation initiatives and works closely with the senior leadership to ensure that Swisscom is always at the forefront of innovation. Frode Odegard, Chairman and CEO, Post-Industrial Institute Frode studies how enterprises, investors, and policymakers can best navigate the transition to a post-industrial civilization and economy. He is the founder of the Post-Industrial Institute, which provides advisory, educational, and strategic services to corporates and investors to help them turn disruption into opportunity. Frode is also the founder of the Post-Industrial Forum, a global community formed to develop and promote a better understanding of the post-industrial transition and how to navigate it. Its members include investors, executives, founders, and policymakers. Frode is the author of a forthcoming book on the post-industrial transition and regularly speaks to international corporate and investor audiences. A serial entrepreneur since his high school years, Frode’s multi-disciplinary background stretches from theoretical computer science to the boardroom. He has a passion for history, linguistics, disruptive technologies, philosophy, and Iwama-style Aikido.
