Description

This Event is being held in support of the GoodBiz Program at Goodwill Industries of East Texas. GoodBiz is a 6-month entrepreneurial business leadership program, for new and budding black and brown entrepreneurs. It is designed to advance the participants’ individual leadership capacity, increase their ability to manage and grow their businesses more effectively and develop core business competencies and leadership practices. Participants also gain a community of peers who will serve as a continuous support system through their entrepreneurial journey. This semi-formal gala will include a fashion show where models will sport business-formal attire shopped from Goodwill Industries of East Texas retail stores. Guests will hear from our speakers, Nita Danielle and Steve Preston. Our SpeakersNita Danielle is a Dallas based fashion, beauty and lifestyle influencer who has built a loyal audience size of over 325K supporters. She has built a strong community across her social platforms, where she spreads body positivity and shows her audience that being curvy doesn’t mean you can’t be fashionable too! With 12 years of entrepreneurship, as a former hairstylist and now social media content creator, she wants to give insight to others within the community who are looking to step into the world of entrepreneurship themselves. Steve C. Preston is the president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International, which provides services to 155 local, independent Goodwill organizations which together represent the leading provider of workforce training and development. In 2021, Goodwill served nearly 2 million people which range from lighter touch services to extensive training, career navigation and job placement support. Preston graduated with highest distinction from Northwestern University and holds an MBA from The University of Chicago. He has served on numerous boards or in other capacities for organizations supporting the needs of people with disadvantages, especially in urban centers. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Partnership for Public Service and the Board of Trustees of Wheaton College.
