Welcome to the first hike of the 52 Hike Challenge Iowa Chapter! This will be a 3.0 - 3.5 mile hike on paved and dirt trails along the river in George Wyth State Park. Who: 52 Hike Challenge participants & their friends/family or anyone interested in learning more about the 52 Hike Challenge. When: Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 9:00 am Where: We will meet at the Canfield Shelter in George Wyth SP. After entering the park, the shelter is roughly 1.25 miles. Watch for the sign on the right side of the road to turn left to the shelter. Skill Level: This will be an easy/ beginner level hike. We will go a short distance on the paved bike trail and then into the woods on the dirt trials. There will be some roots and maybe a few small uphills but not much elevation gain. What to bring: Weather appropriate clothing (layers are best) and wear good walking/hiking shoes. A small backpack or fanny pack to carry suncreen and/or bug spray, a water bottle, snacks and other personal needs. Hiking or treking poles are optional. Entry into the park and parking are free.
