Join us for a conversation where we will explore the use of DAOs to address homelessness in the Bay Area. Meet the team behind Artists Building Communities, a project that has successfully built 15 emergency tiny homes in Oakland since the start of the Covid and hear from a community member who was directly impacted by their work. With the current housing crisis, the need to find innovative solutions to support marginalized communities is more pressing than ever. In collaboration with Geo, the team is now pivoting into the development of an ethical transitional tiny home community. They will share how they envision using this model to address the needs of those experiencing homelessness in the Bay Area. About Artists Building Communities: Formed at the start of Covid by a group of recently unemployed artists living at the Vulcan Lofts in Oakland. They joined together to build emergency tiny homes to serve unhoused community members. Today the team has grown to 200+ volunteers and 13 organizers. The project has completed 15 tiny homes in Oakland's encampments and provided essential resources to these communities through partnerships and collaborating with residents. About Geo Geo is building tools to help communities organize knowledge and information on verifiable public infrastructure. By hosting discussions and debates on challenging topics, we hope to stimulate creative energy toward solving the world's biggest challenges. Together we can change how society is organized, put power into the hands of those who’ve earned it, and distribute resources and opportunity far and wide.
