Description

The newly released book by Colibri, Dr. Delia Fernández-Jones is a must-read! Making the MexiRican City details the history of how Mexicans, Tejanos, and Puerto Ricans created community and response to social, racial, and economic challenges in Grand Rapids from the early 1900s and beyond. This session is exclusively for members of the Latina Network and the West Michigan Latino Network and will feature dinner catered by a local Latinx restaurant, refreshments, raffle prizes, book reflections and discussion, followed by a Q&A with the author. Please bring your copy of the book to be signed and to reference during the discussion. If you don't finish reading the entire book by May 22nd, that's okay. Show up anyway...however, there might be spoilers in the conversation! The preferred vendor for obtaining a copy of the book is We are Lit GR (www.wearelitgr.com), however if a free copy of the book would be helpful for your participation, we have a limited number of free copies for those attending the book club session on May 22. Requesting a copy of the book can be found when reserving a ticket for this event. You will be emailed separate instructions regarding book pick-up. Space is limited. Please prioritize your attendance if you register. Thank you!
