Date: Tuesday, May 16, 2023 Time: 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Location: Builders Exchange, 2300 Meadow Drive, Louisville, KY 40218 Credits: 3 AIA CEUs (HSW) pending approval Description:This course will take a deep dive into all the aspects of Building Cost analysis including both cost per square foot and detail quantity take-off methods, their accuracy, benefits, pitfalls, and proper applications. It will explore design contingency and how it helps to protect the owner from unforeseen changes during the design process, the need for energy efficiency studies and exploration of life-cycle cost analysis on products and systems. Lastly the program will discuss the factor of inflation and non-construction project costs that will play a financial role in any successful project. This program will focus on the aspects of building cost analysis within project management. Providing accurate and thorough cost analysis can provide needed information to make pertinent design decisions that directly affect the building owners, occupants and environment, i.e. building systems, long-term benefits, life-cycle cost, operation costs, high-performance options. Learning objectives: Identify and discuss the methods of producing building cost analysis and their proper applications. Explore the effects and predictability of design contingency, inflation and non-construction project costs. Examine life-cycle cost analysis, how it adds value to a project and how to convey life-cycle cost analysis results to project owners and team members. Discover and discuss the importance of energy efficiency studies and the benefits it can provide to the project in terms of ownership, occupancy, and sustainability. About the presenter: Robert Pass, is an Architectural/Structural/Civil Estimator with twenty years experience of successfully managing all financial aspects on construction projects throughout the entire design and construction phases, with particular emphasis on ensuring construction projects stay within their budget.
