Our 2022-2023 Season Finale includes well-loved American symphonic hits. Bernstein's thrilling Overture to Candide begins our concert. It's then followed by Barber's sobering Adagio for Strings. The rediscovered gem of our concert is Price's Ethiopia's Shadow in America, which musically looks at the history of slavery, resignation, and adaptation of Black Americans. The program takes a military twist with Hymn to the Fallen, from John Williams' score of Saving Private Ryan. Finally, we are taken on a tourist trip to Paris in Gershwin's American in Paris.
