Learn how to make your own totally unique and original jewelry using porcelain clay! This two-session workshop will bring students through the entire process, from dreaming up designs and working with clay all the way to assembling finished pieces. All skill levels are welcome in this hands-on class. No prior jewelry or ceramics experience required. Day One: Students will be shown how to add texture, color, and shape to raw porcelain clay. We will cut shapes for pendants, beads, charms, earrings, and statement pieces while discussing different techniques for creating a variety of styles of jewelry from clay. Day Two: Our clay pieces will be fired and ready to glaze on the second day of our workshop. We will use a variety of techniques to add color and finish to our jewelry pieces. The teacher will also demonstrate how to incorporate metal findings to finish our jewelry after firing has been completed. After Class: Finished pieces will be glaze fired and ready for pickup within 1-2 weeks. A small selection of jewelry findings will be included with the finished pieces as well as information on where students can order additional supplies.
