***RESCHEDULED FROM 4/22 to 5/12 DUE TO WEATHER!!*** Join us for some fun affirming Queer Karaoke at one of our favorite spots, Kale My Name! Come for the karaoke & stay for the vegan bites & delish drinks! Three full hours of karaoke at one of the hottest plant based restaurants in Chicago, in a safe & affirming environment. Since Queer Karaoke Chicago is hosting, we’ll have full control over the order in which people sing — so if you get there early, you’re guaranteed to sing at least once (but hopefully more)! If you just want to be a spectator, that’s totally cool too, there’s no pressure to sing. This is a low stakes & fun way to meet other QT Queers in our community too, so bring a friend who needs it! For the newbies (or the OGs!) a little background on us: Grant Michael (He/They) Grant is the founder & created of Queer Karaoke Chi & a lifelong musician. He has been a performer his whole life, and couldn’t imagine life without music & performance! He is a musician at heart, who studied both instruments & voice both for fun & for his degree in music education. Grant is a classically trained singer who can sing in many styles, including musical theatre, classical, opera, a cappella, and is now currently working through a voice transition from a high soprano to a baritenor. Their karaoke faves are typically older & more nostalgic tunes, but he sings a wide array of material. He is delighted to have found a community within our larger Queer sphere & to share his love of Queereoke with all! Lauren Sitterly (She/Her) Lauren is the Social Media & Marketing Manager for Queer Karaoke Chicago — she started coming to events & joined us initially as an intern, but has grown into her role with the group & helped plan so many great events! She also helps take photos and videos, create social media posts, and manage equipment. She likes to sing pop punk and emo tunes, but her go-to karaoke song is (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) by the Beastie Boys. Kale My Name is solely donating space for this event & is not making any profit from ticket sales. Queer Karaoke Chi are the hosts & organizers.
