Fenn first turned to the piano and composing at the age of 12 as a means of distraction when his parents separated. He later picked up the guitar and violin and went on to study composition and music theory. Fenn pays homage to classical by showcasing his disciplined skills on piano and violin; whilst still maintaining a sense of individuality with more mainstream high-tops and synths. Not too much is going on at once, simplicity is key, but together- Fenn creates a beautiful composition. A singer as well, Fenn’s solemn vocals is the perfect juxtaposition to his controlled and sharp instrumental. Drawing on classical music’s ability to tell a story, Fenn is definitely able to tell an intimate tale of heartbreak both musically and lyrically. Following the recent announcement of his forthcoming album, Emmit Fenn unveils this second single entitled “Until We Leave The Ground” off his highly-anticipated debut project. His latest record landed a spot on the soundtrack for Netflix’s film, To All The Boys: Always and Forever, and premiered exclusively on Flaunt. Set for release this April, Far From Here is the debut album from Emmit and is undoubtedly setting up to be the soundtrack to your escapism. His lead single “Edge of the Dark” is a powerful ballad that explores the discovery of new perspectives and the idea of embracing the darkness, weighing up the idea that we cannot fully know the lighter sides to life without experiencing the darkness. At times during 2020, we’ve all wanted to travel “Far From Here” and “the album is for those looking to escape in search of hope,” Emmit explains.
