Instructor: Pat Kelly Saturday–Sunday, 3–8 PM June 24 & 25 2 Days, 10 hours of instruction 14901 Garden Road, Poway $180/200 Join us at midsummer for a painting workshop on the longest day of the year! Outdoor studies are the key to painting successful landscapes in the studio. Plein Air painting is an excellent way to observe color, light and aerial perspective. This is a two-day workshop focusing on composition, aerial perspective and color mixing with a limited palette. There will be a demo each afternoon at the beginning of class, time to relax and observe. The fields around Garden Road Park are beautiful at dusk, so midsummer evening is the perfect time for painting there. Advanced beginners and up. MATERIALS: Portable easel, two 8x10” or 6x8” good-quality canvas boards, a half dozen brushes (white bristle flat or filbert, sizes 2, 4, and 6), one medium-sized steel palette knife, a small, pointed round brush for detail sized 2-4, paper towels, odorless turpentine; small jar for turpentine, wooden palette Oil paints: Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Yellow Medium Cadmium Lemon, Phthalo Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Permalba White, Raw Umber, Cadmium orange. Sun hat, folding chair, insect repellent, old shirt and sturdy shoes are a must. And…bring a picnic dinner or take out. Immediately after you register, look for a confirmation email and receipt from Eventbrite. In the week preceding the class start date, you will receive another email with more details.
