Description

Please join us to officially launch the Hey, Mama Mobile Pantry, a new initiative of the Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition (NEFHSC) with funding provided by the City of Jacksonville. Once the ribbon is cut, the Hey, Mama Mobile Pantry will begin making appearances in several areas of Jacksonville to provide baby and household essentials and new parent information to underserved families, especially those living in areas without adequate access to certain resources. A special thank you to Nemours Children's Health and the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association, both of which generously donated items for the pantry. The mobile pantry is a nine-passenger van equipped with a variety of items including diapers and wipes, formula, baby food, men’s and women’s toiletries and pregnancy tests. A registered nurse will be on board, as well as other NEFHSC staff members who will administer postpartum depression screenings, provide referrals for community resources including housing, rental assistance, well-baby care and stress management, and education materials about breastfeeding, parenting skills and much more. The mobile unit is one of several community outreach efforts NEFHSC is spearheading to create a more supportive environment in meeting individuals' needs in order to reduce infant mortality. The intent is to encourage more pregnant women, new mothers, their spouses/partners and other family members to enroll in community programs and services designed to give their babies the healthiest start possible in life.
