Skylight and the VIVX team are back in Woodstock for their annual retreat at Silver Sun Foundation Residence. VIVX is a Latin American network for environmental defenders, by defenders, for their protection, using cinematic storytelling to challenge toxic narratives that put them at risk. Our focus this year is on AfroColombian women who are protecting the rivers in the Chocó region of Colombia. The Atrato has been designated a river with rights by the Colombian government as it joins the international movement to confer legal status to rivers as part of the growing global rights of nature movement. We will be presenting “River Guardians” our upcoming multi-media international campaign designed to highlight the positive narratives represented by defenders on the frontlines of protecting our planet.
